EDI Conference on 27 February 2004, Hanoi

Within the working scope of the EDIVN taskforce - the Ministry of Science and Technology, on 27 February 2004 at the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry head office at 9 Dao Duy Anh, Hanoi, the Information Technology Office in conjunction with the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP) held a Seminar on "Electronic Data Interchange: the ongoing development in the world and current status of Vietnam".

Attending the Seminar were 130 delegates representing various Ministries, Sectors, state management agencies, IT associations, enterprises, and journalists. The guest of honor, Mr. Frank Bingen - advisor to the Delegation of the EU Commission to Vietnam - addressed the Seminar with a presentation on the role of EU in Asia.

Highlights of the Seminar were report by Mr. Jean-marc Dufour - Edifrance Vice President - on EDI standards and norms that may be applicable for Vietnam's digital economy, and presentation by Professor Tran Luu Chuong - Head of the EDI Taskforce - on current status of EDI development and EDI cooperation in the region.

The Seminar also addressed several reports on EDI development in critical sectors of Vietnam such as: Trade, Customs, Industry, and Banking.
